Collision during overtaking maneuver

(jd) Two people were slightly injured in a traffic accident on Klosterbauerschafter Straße on Saturday (14.6.). A 22-year-old man from Löhn was driving his Mercedes in the direction of the B239 at 5.53 pm. A tractor and another car were driving directly in front of him. The man intended to overtake the two vehicles in front of him. Before a bend, the 22-year-old then set off to overtake despite limited visibility. At the same time, a 58-year-old man from Bielefeld was driving his car in the opposite lane and was unable to prevent the collision. Despite an immediate evasive maneuver, the Mercedes crashed into the side of the oncoming car. The collision caused the Mercedes to be thrown into an adjacent field. The 58-year-old man and a 4-year-old girl, who was also in the car, were slightly injured in the accident. The police officers called to the scene noticed signs of intoxication in the 22-year-old. He was therefore taken to Bünde police station to have a blood sample taken. After the police measures were completed, the Löhner was released on the spot. The damage to property amounts to around 15,000 euros.
